Role Synopsis
The Field Security Liaison Officer (FSLO) serves as an operational liaison within the Security Department, engaging with operational commanders and national security forces to support field operations. The role is responsible for reporting incidents and issues to the Field Security Manager (FSM) and providing direct operational assistance when required. The role also supports the Information Assessment Analyst (IAA) in the absence of the Senior Liaison Officer (SLO), as needed. In addition, the position assists the Head of HQ Security Manager (HQSM) in managing VIP access control procedures and provides translation support to facilitate security operations. The role may require travel to engage with relevant ministries and government authorities in support of security activities.
Principal Accountabilities
- Assisting the FSM and security team in the delivery of security oversight to daily operational field activity
- Acts as the primary interface between security, operational teams, and local security forces
- Be prepared to support the IAA with BSOC and BAOC as required in the absence of SLO
- Be prepared to support the IAA in the absence of the SLO and assist the SLO in the development and maintenance of information capability
- Assist the HQSM in the delivery of access control protocols during VIP visits and in response to security-related incidents at headquarters
- Additional responsibilities may include providing task-specific support to the investigations team and general translation services
- Presents key information and documentation for approval at relevant governmental offices when requested by security
- Provides cover for the senior liaison officer during absence, facilitating liaison between security and the nominated community committee
Key Challenges
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including both Iraqi and expatriate personnel
- Establishes credibility and builds trust and respect with senior security force officials operating in the field area and at the international airport
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience, with prior service in a senior officer rank within the Iraqi security forces
- Excellent spoken and written English language skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with both local and international stakeholders
- Calm under pressure with the ability to resolve disputes firmly and fairly
- Presentable, physically fit, diligent, and self-motivated
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to deliver site inductions
- Computer-literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
