MSELECT is looking for a Creative Copywriter for an online platform in Erbil. Candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience in developing original content for company’s website, blog, newsletter, and social media posts. English is a must.

Job summary

The creative copywriter will be responsible for generating traffic for the website by enticing new and existing users with informative content relevant to our products and services. The candidate should have exceptional writing and research skills and be detail oriented.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Identify customer needs and interests for new website content
  • Brainstorming individually and as part of a team to generate ideas for interesting and relevant user content. Examples of this include creating product buying guides with recommendations for products in a specific category such as mobiles or fashion, writing ‘how to’ guides about using features, engaging users in competitions, etc.
  • Writing content that is accurate, well-researched, and meets client/company needs and deadlines, in English and Arabic
  • Conducting research to formulate ideas or support writing, including discussing with internal and external parties to learn about their content needs
  • Interview industry professionals and incorporate their views in blog posts and articles
  • Edit and proofread written pieces before publication
  • Learning about and customizing content for target audiences based on user analytics
  • Conducting keyword research and using SEO guidelines to optimize content
  • Briefing and working with the marketing & design teams to create digital content, including graphics, videos, and other formats to be incorporated into content
  • Writing engaging push notifications for the mobile applications
  • Publishing user content on the website, application, blog, newsletters, and other formats, working with the technical team where needed
  • Updating content on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as required, including selecting and updating highlighted product carousels, categories, widgets, banners, shop by brand, and other content blocks
  • Assisting in the creation of marketing copy for flyers and other advertising materials
  • Establish company guidelines for copywriting ensuring consistent across events and platforms
  • Promoting content on social networks and monitoring engagement (e.g. comments and shares)
  • Writing press releases on company achievements and other relevant content, with a view to generate international media exposure for the company
  • Distributing press releases to media and other channels
  • Review and update the taxonomy of products based on best-practice

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in copywriting in previous roles and a portfolio of published articles
  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English and Arabic
  • Strong research skills
  • Receptive to feedback
  • Time management skills and ability to work to deadlines
  • Creativity, resourcefulness, flexibility, and motivation
  • Some marketing knowledge and familiarity with digital media
  • Familiarity with SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
  • Excellent communication skills, external partners, and internal colleagues across all levels
  • Proficiency in MS Office

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, marketing, or a relevant field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related position
