mselect is looking to hire a Construction Supervisor (Piping) for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years overall experience in piping erection (UG & AG), pressure testing, mechanical completion and construction of oil and gas facilities. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acts as a safety leader, ensuring epic contractor’s work complies with the client lifesaving rules and all safety and environmental regulations of client and the state of Qatar
  • Reporting to the discipline construction lead/senior construction supervisor on main issues, events at the site, progress reporting, trends, and recommendations for improvement
  • Assist functional supervisor in review and/or approval of construction documentation, including method statements, JHAs, mars, etc., and attend HSE walkthroughs
  • Supervise all EPIC contractors' piping (process and utility piping system with various material pipe classes for above-ground and underground piped services) installation activities, based on approved engineering documentation and project schedule, during the execution of construction activities
  • Attend requests for inspections (RFIs) as per approved ITPs, including material receiving inspections in coordination with reconstruction supervisor, and sign off on relevant inspection and test reports/RFIs
  • ensuring the quality of manufacturing and erection works, dimensional accuracy and orientation, accessory and inline items installed in the correct orientation and material design specification
  • lead the epic construction contractor(s) on all mechanical aspects of the piping works.
  • supervise with the epic contractor during the execution of the piping installation, line check, punch clearing, hydrotest, and reinstatement at the site
  • manage and lead final mechanical completion inspections and punch closing
  • supervise the pre-com activities to ensure safety and the quality of the completed work
  • undertake technical integrity and HSE reviews/audits
  • participate in process safety management
  • participate in PSSR and provide support to operations pre- and start-up activities were instructed
  • co-ordinate mobilization of contractors on site
  • carry out daily checks on the contractor’s staff and work carried out during the previous day to ensure compliance with prescribed contractual specifications
  • good knowledge in reading and understanding P&ID, GA, isos, piping standard drawings (including support drawings), and equipment layout drawings
  • maintain a daily record of progress (daily diary), noting special comments; reports to the senior supervisor work anomalies or contractual deviations committed by contractor personnel and recommends corrective actions
  • sign work permits on behalf of the client and ensure that contractors’ compliance with work permits
  • participate in the development of as-built drawings/documentation
  • accountable for supervising the contractor’s work that is in progress, inspecting work, reporting problems, and preventing accidents occurring as a result of negligence, by enforcing the client safety standards on the work site
  • liaise and report with the QA/QC inspector on quality-related matters

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical engineering from an internationally recognized university
  • Preferably having formal training in QA/QC functional aspects
  • The candidate shall be a safety leader
  • Candidate should have a minimum of 10 years overall experience in piping erection (UG & AG), pressure testing, mechanical completion, and construction of oil and gas facilities
  • Experience as an EPIC Contractor supervisor is essential Experience as a Client or PMC supervisor is preferred
  • Current experience in the industrial cities in the State of Qatar and/or other GCC countries is required
  • Piping inspection and rotating equipment experience is an advantage, and inspection coordination experience in the
  • Extensive knowledge of international and industry-specific piping codes and standards, including ASME, ANSI B313 & B311, SHELL DEP’s, etc Piping and Welding/NDT inspector certificates (AWS/ASNT/CSWIP/API) would be an advantage
  • Extensive experience in pipe coating systems and procedures, including painting, galvanizing, wrapping, insulation, etc BGAS certification would be an advantage
  • Extensive experience in fabrication of pipe spooling, pipe supports, and erection of carbon steel, stainless/alloy steel, uPVC, and GRE/GRV piping systems, including pressure testing, pre-commissioning, and mechanical completion inspections, etc
  • Excellent written and oral English skills Able to read piping drawings, P&ID’s, and manufacturers’ instructions, etc
  • The candidate shall have specific stated experiences in: Greenfield/new build construction sites, Brownfield/live process plants, Permits to work, including Isolation & Lock Out/Tag Out of live services, Tie-in to live facilities, including testing and integration to existing systems, Extensive knowledge in Lifting Plan and Crane Studies If a candidate has an Approved Lifting Supervisor Certificate, it would be an advantage, Stage Inspection and Testing of Construction activities as per approved ITPs
  • Strong technical, prioritization, and management skills
  • Good communication, influencing, and interface skills
  • Proficient knowledge of computer programs (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PDF, PowerPoint, etc) and engineering software applications relevant to the discipline
