mselect is looking to hire a Construction Supervisor for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a site engineer (civil/mechanical/electrical/architectural) working on high-rise buildings. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supervision of construction works executed by contractors to ensure the department’s assigned projects are constructed in accordance with the approved Scope of Work, engineering design, QHSE standards & specifications; review and provide comments on construction method statements, material submittals, commissioning procedures from the start of construction of projects till completion, and handover to end users. responsible as the performing authority for the permit to work by the contractors
  • Supervise the site construction/installation of work of relevant engineering disciplines of assigned construction/epic contracts and ensure that the work is carried out in a safe manner and in compliance with the scope of work, approved engineering standards, and specifications
  • Participate in constructability reviews as and when required
  • Review contractors' construction plans and schedules, including method statements and JSAs
  • Coordinate and control the mobilization of contractors to sites, including site lay-down areas
  • Facilitate issuance of necessary permits and gate passes when requested by contractors
  • Check, inspect, and test completed project work and/or arrange appropriate pre-commissioning inspections and tests. Initiate mechanical completion certificates
  • Ensure and follow up on the completion and clearance of all punch list items
  • Review and endorse red-marked-up and "as built" drawings
  • Participate in handover and acceptance, review commissioning procedures, and participate in the commissioning of facilities
  • Review and endorse the construction dossier for the assigned projects
  • Responsible for the execution of the construction and installation scope associated with the project, on time and as per the approved scope of work, specifications, and standards
  • Responsible for the timely issuance of PTW/CPW, and direct and supervise the contractor's construction team to ensure adherence to the PTW/CPW conditions
  • Review and subsequently endorse the site work progress by the contractors
  • Participate in HSE and QAQC audits when required
  • Participate and chair (whenever required) in construction progress meetings with contractors
  • Prepare construction progress reports and report major works and concerns to his line supervisor
  • Ability to carry out troubleshooting activities, highlight potential bottlenecks/problems, and develop and implement solutions; ability to interact with and manage multinational and multi-cultural contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers
  • Monitor and endorse work permits for the project and verify compliance with work by the end-user and contractor by checking work permit applications against already existing permits and progress updates, and consulting all concerned parties to ensure uninterrupted work progress
  • Liaise with the contractor by way of regular interaction to ensure all related materials are in accordance with project specifications and work is being carried out in accordance with project quality plans and inspection & test plans (ITPs)

Requirements
  • BSc in any engineering discipline (civil/mechanical/electrical/architectural) from a recognized university, or a diploma with extensive construction experience in supervision of (civil/mechanical/electrical /architectural) works related to high-rise building projects
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a site engineer (civil/mechanical/electrical/architectural) in works related to high-rise buildings
  • Experienced in the implementation of industry best practices and systems, processes, and standards related to construction
  • Good skills in construction management and leadership, team building, effective communication, and conflict resolution
