mselect is looking to hire a Civil and Structural Engineer for an oil and gas service client in Al-Anbar, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience, including onshore foundation engineering, construction supplier management, and site engineering support. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.
Job Summary
The Civil & Structural Engineer is responsible for performing civil and structural design calculations and addressing related design challenges. The role ensures compliance with applicable industry codes, standards, regulations, and guidelines while delivering project requirements within agreed timelines and budget limits. The engineer coordinates with intra-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary teams, project and site teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure the timely delivery of required engineering deliverables in accordance with the project plan and specifications.
Key Activities
Review and understand client specifications during the proposal phase
Raise clarifications and deviations not in line with company standards
Review topographical survey map, soil investigation reports and extraction of required design inputs if available
Prepare Technical Requisition of these studies during project execution. Follow up with vendors
Create or review the civil and structural design basis and project specifications
Prepare, review and approve civil and structural MTOs during proposals and project execution
Support the construction team in preparing technical bid analysis of construction companies
Prepare technical requisition and technical bid analysis for structural fabrication
Perform civil & structural analysis, calculations, design reports, and connection design reports, and check and review drawings
Define materials for civil and structural works
Review of fireproofing specification
Define painting and coating schemes for structural works
Lead and assist junior civil & structural engineers/designers when developing engineering deliverables
Provide inputs to other disciplines during project execution
Participate in engineering meetings
Responsible for delivering civil & structural engineering documents as per the project schedule
Responsible for tracking engineering hours for its discipline during project execution
Participate in 3D model interdisciplinary reviews and resolve the clashes in its discipline
Coordinate, review, comment and approve the outsourced civil & structural engineering design deliverables
Ensure the most up-to-date vendor documentation is being used for developing these deliverables
Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in its discipline in accordance with applicable codes and standards
Actively support, participate in, and maintain the integrity and ongoing function of the company and facility HSSE programme, ensuring a safe/healthy work environment
Provide support to Production facilities as required by Operations on engineering/technical matters
Knowledge of relevant Industry Standards. (ACI, AISC, BS, EURO and other international detailing knowledge)
Effective implementation of quality systems, procedures, management of change and revision control
Good knowledge of commercial engineering design programmes such as STAAD, MAT 3D, Foundation 3D, SAP 2000, RAM connection & SACS
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.E./B.S.) or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (M.E./M.S.)
Minimum of 6 years of relevant industry experience
Experience in onshore foundation engineering, construction supplier management, and site engineering support
Strong experience in static and dynamic analysis for equipment foundation design
Experience in brownfield project design
Experience in precast concrete and modularised steel structure design
Proficiency in the design of RCC and steel buildings, shelters, and pipe rack structures
Experience in underground drainage, cable trench, and road layout and design
Experience in skid structure and connection design
Strong background in onshore facilities engineering and construction, with solid civil and structural design expertise
Knowledge of interdisciplinary engineering requirements and coordination interfaces
