Understanding Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)

This Equality, Diversity & Inclusion training programme looks at how we behave at work and how our behaviour may affect those around us. It addresses unacceptable behaviour, stereotyping, victimisation and discrimination.

 

Course Content

Module One: Introduction to the Protected Characteristics

This module looks at some of the key terminology related to equality, diversity and inclusion and introduces the nine protected characteristics covered by the Equality Act 2010.

  • Disability

Module Two: Pregnancy & Maternity and Race

This module looks at what is meant by the next three protected characteristics, explaining what they are, examples of

discrimination for each and ideas for how you can promote ED&I based on them.

  • Pregnancy and maternity

Module Three: Religion & Belief, Sex, Sexual Orientation & Workplace Equality Policies

The module also explains what should be included in your workplace ED&I policy to ensure your business promotes

equality, diversity and inclusion at all times.

  • Religion, culture and belief

  • Sexual orientation

  • Workplace equality policies and procedures

 

Course Outcomes

  1. Appreciate the need to see how others see issues, which may be different from how we see them

  2. Understand prejudices and discrimination

  3. Appreciate the difference between diversity and equality

  4. Understand the law on equality

  5. Identify different types and possible effects of harassment and discrimination

  6. Deal effectively with bullying and harassment

  7. Apply an equality approach to their job

  8. Appreciate how a best practice approach to diversity can benefit the company.

This EDI training course is suitable for participants of all levels and all job roles, as everyone within and outside of the workplace has a responsibility for supporting equality and diversity and promoting inclusion.
